Sawtooth was started 16 years ago in 2009 by Randall Miller. He mostly just goes by Randy though. The small operation that he started was born out of a desire to leave an industry where incompetency was rewarded, and innovation hampered. From California, and with only a few thousand dollars in his wallet, Randy literally threw a dart at a map to find a new place to live and set up his business. That dart hit Twin Falls. Since then, Randy has been slowly and methodically building up Sawtooth Welding, taking the unorthodox approach of self-funding every single project; meaning he didn't have to rely on the bank or creditors to get the job done. And while that approach helped to build a solid business with some of the best pricing available, it also meant that Randy had to work hard for 5 years at $12 an hour before he got to see the check that let him break even on his initial investment. It was a proud moment for him, knowing that from that from then on, his work was worth more than what he had put in.
Eventually, Randy moved Sawtooth to the Treasure Valley. Operating out of a shop just slightly smaller than 11,000 square feet, Sawtooth Welding expanded into a fabrication facility that could rival some of the best in the business.
'And in just 16 years. How time flies by', as Randy put it.
Randy bought every single machine in his shop, helped on every single project, and made sure to treat every client that worked with him with the level of care that they needed. How Sawtooth functions so well is because we all operate the same way Randy does; attention to detail, make sure we communicate clearly, and we listen to your feedback with the intent to understand how we can help you.
Our company doesn't just extend this mentality to our clients. We also make sure we take care of our own. Randy has never once left his employees go without pay, even during lean times, and has no qualms about laughing with us as we all work together. It's a company where it's easy to enjoy our lives, even when we're on the clock. A rare thing.
And to enjoy his own time, Randy has great passion for fishing. Each year he tries to find the time to enter into the tournaments with his son, who shares his passion for the sport. During the down time on his travels he like to read books in the style of the Tom Clancy novels, liking the adventure that they can take you on. And he has more than one good story about the hunting trips he's gone on.
Sawtooth is a full-service facility capable of fabricating nearly anything one can dream of. Our facility specializes in both industrial level steel structures, and custom metalwork. Our professional, and certified craftsmen are more than up to the task on any project that comes their way.
